Google's top stories carousel is malfunctioning and not loading all the images for its listed articles. Multiple users on Twitter are complaining about this issue, which may be due to a bug in Chrome or Google's codebase.
Users are reporting that searches involving words with different colors will result in a black window rather than an image as they should be seeing.
The Google search engine is showing off its new blue hue in the latest update. Since last week, the issue has caused many problems, with solid color windows replacing images for some searches like News and Redmi Note on Android devices.
After testing the issue, it was replicated consistently across many keywords. Some carousels have been fixed, like for "covid booster shot," but others are still a problem depending on the keyword used.
The next time you think about using the search engine to find a story, imagine your reaction if all of the images didn't appear. You might be more likely to click on something that includes an image than one with just text and bold headings.
Google is still trying to fix the bug, but it's not known whether or not they will release a new update.
